Who we are

Over the years, we have reflected on the knowledge and skills our grandparents had. My grandparents built their own house, one concrete block at a time. It was common in their generation to raise animals, sew garments, repair engines, hunt, grow gardens, crochet, build furniture, bake bread, and so much more. At times it seemed like they could do anything with their bare hands. And they didn’t have YouTube! As we have gotten older and recognized the value of knowledge that wasn’t handed down to us, we also saw many others in the same struggle. We want to learn. To save something valuable before it is lost. We want to teach our children things we don’t know ourselves. And we aren’t the only ones.

Legacy Market was born out of a desire to learn and share traditional skills and knowledge. Our main passion is natural fibers. We hope to facilitate learning opportunities for various fiber arts, woodworking, pottery, basketry, and any other traditional skills we can offer.

We believe that in-person, hands-on learning is the best way to grow in knowledge, skill, and supportive community. We will connect those who want to learn traditional crafts with skilled teachers through learning events.

We will offer finished products as well as resources that assist others in embracing a more locally-focused, natural, and intentional way of living.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
